01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Le Cocodile, nestled beautifully along the iconic Promenade des Anglais in Nice, presents itself as a culinary gem where French, Italian, and Mediterranean flavors entwine effortlessly. This charming restaurant is a delightful haven for anyone seeking a refined yet cozy dining experience by the sea.

The menu at Le Cocodile is a vibrant tapestry of classic and innovative dishes. Guests consistently praise the rich, creamy mussels—bathed in a luscious cream sauce that speaks to authentic French gourmandise. Equally lauded are the gnocchi dishes, especially the tender gnocchi with beef or the sumptuous four-cheese gnocchi that has earned a solid 5/5 from delighted diners. The freshness and balance of the Salad Capri, with its perfectly roasted eggplant, also stand out as a testament to the kitchen’s dedication to flavor and quality. For those feeling adventurous, the snails offer a gentle introduction to this French classic, served in a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Dining at Le Cocodile is not just about the food; it’s an experience. Picture yourself seated by a window with a stunning view of the sparkling Mediterranean—where the salty breeze subtly mingles with the aroma of freshly baked baguettes and brewing coffee. Guests frequently mention the attentive and familiar staff, who year after year maintain a genuine, warm service that makes every visit feel like coming home. While the restaurant can get busy and service may sometimes slow due to a limited staff, this only underlines the popularity and charm that keeps locals and travelers returning.

Breakfast and brunch here are equally exceptional, with freshly baked croissants, creamy Brie cheese, and perfectly brewed teas setting the tone for a relaxed morning by the sea. The generous portions, combined with the golden sunlight soaking through the windows, create an inviting ambiance that calms even the most jaded traveler after a long flight.

Le Cocodile strikes a beautiful chord between traditional Mediterranean hospitality and the elegance of French and Italian culinary arts. Whether you’re craving a comforting dish after a day of exploring Nice or seeking a serene spot for a leisurely brunch, this restaurant promises an intimate and flavorful window into the best of the region’s cuisine. Its unique position on the Promenade des Anglais makes it not just a meal, but an sensory celebration of the French Riviera lifestyle.

I am visiting from the US and came here last evening for dinner with my husband. The food is delicious and very well presented. I had the muscles with the cream and they were outstanding. They use funnel which I love! My husband had a gnocchi dish with beef and he gobbled it up. Said it was delicious too. There was three people taking care of the entire restaurant and I think they could have used one more person to help. Otherwise it’s priced well and the food is outstanding.

We arrived at Le Cocodile after a long trans Atlantic flight and they were so kind to extend breakfast service for us. The brunch included fresh croissants, eggs, salad, fruit, juice, tea and a fresh baguette with Brie cheese. From our table, the view of the sea was stunning. Just what we needed. Highly recommend this place.

When in Nice we always visit both for coffee, lunch and dinner! We meet the same staff every year always attentive and so serviceminded! The food is really good and the portions generous. They also have the best sunspot on the Promenade! Visit them!

I tried the snails and they were actually good for being my first time trying them. Ambience from the restaurant inside is also very cozy. I gave 4 stars because there is only one waiter serving all the tables and it took him very long just to take my order. Also, the bread from the basket was not fresh and very hard to chew.

Stopped here for dinner on our first night in Nice and we weren’t disappointed. The kind gentleman that was serving us couldn’t speak English well so got someone to help explain an answer. I got Salad Capri and the eggplant was out of this world tasty!! I only wish there were more slices in the salad. Daughter thought the gnocchi 4 fromages she got was a solid 5/5! Scrumptious indeed! Escalope Volaille plate was tasty as well. The Milanaise de Volaille was good too.

One of our greatest experiences in Nice. Nice and elegant restaurant, the staff has been super kind. We ate the best salmon we had ever tasted and they have lots of choice regarding wine and desserts. We waited very little time to eat, even though the restaurant was full. Almost all of their tables has a view on Promenade des Anglais. The only thing I would have liked to be different would be their choice to not serve white wine (1/4) with a little bit of ice in a bowl, as it was over 30°C and, as many know, white wine needs to be served cold. However, it still is the best evening we spent in Nice, all thanks to the staff. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing and they pay lots of attention to details. We spent about 75€ for two people, both red and white wine, two fish dishes and dessert. It's very cheap for the quality and elegance they offer the clients. If we lived nearby, we would absolutely come back, but for sure we will if we ever happen to pass by Nice. Thanks for the amazing experience! They also accept dogs inside.

Very good service, friendly. Good because they kept the kitchen open for us, even though we were on the limit of time. Excellent food. Recommend the carpaccio.

Very cute atmosphere, however they require you to order food if you’d like to sit outside. Also, almost everyone is smocking cigarettes so if that is okay with you it is not a problem.
